My Pekin drake's advances on my lone Rouen girl were thwarted the entire afternoon by one of my Pekin girls.. she ran interference and put herself between the two of them and honked like a goose at him. I haven't seen him trying to be amorous before but they're only a little shy of a year old and she JUST started laying last week. I was literally tickled by this bodyguard display 😂🦢🦆

It was hilarious. He's a bit bow legged so they were faster than him as well😂

I was wondering about this. We still don’t know if we have boys/girls (they’re 5 weeks old) and what the ratios are (we don’t plan to keep boys bc of our chickens...) but we have 1 HUGE duck that I suspect may be a boy, and although they’re on duck feed and I try to give it the B complex it’s still slower and a bit pigeon toed, I was thinking well maybe if it can’t keep up with the others mating/aggression won’t be a problem?!

What breed are they?

Hodgepodge. 6 from TSC assorted. I have a thread on them I’ve been updating weekly. Pretty sure 1 Khaki Campbell, 2 mallards (could be Rouen but only had 1 distinctive eye stripe, the other wasn’t quite a full stripe) and 3 Pekin
(or white layers). The one I said is huge may be a jumbo Pekin ? (It was around 6.5 lbs when I weighed it last week 😳)

eta: pic (from Sunday) they were walking back to the shop after some outside time)

Ohh! I think I replied to that. Yeah, I would expect it to be a Jumbo Pekin.

I am far from an expert considering this was the first attempt at mating that I've witnessed but my ducks and chickens share an enclosure (although they do have separate gated areas) and as of now I have yet to see the drake try with a chicken.
