Woo Hoo! I finally got my coonzilla! I've been battling this humongous coon that keeps lurking at my coop. The other night I caught him trying to get in the coop door! His was so big he didn't even run he waddled!

He's been getting into my bread and feed! He's a total lard!

I set out a havahart and he'd just get the bait. He was so big that the biggest havahart I could find wasn't big enough.

I have a family friend who is a trapper. He set conabear traps an snares all over my property. In return, I have to bring him the dead animals so he can have their pelts. Not a bad trade in my opinion.

I got the dang thing this morning! He was so big I couldn't pick the trap up with one hand! Now I can't get the trap to release him! LOL I'm so happy, i've lost a ton of sleep over this guy! We just weighed him on my bathroom scale. He weighs 47 pounds including the trap. Holy cow!

Anyway everybody just thought I'd share! I'm thinking about purchasing some traps like the conabear for myself!

LOL No kidding! My brother is coming out tonight to get the coon out of the trap and to show my husband how to reset it. We are not trappers LOL but fortunately my brother has some experience.

When he comes out I'll post a pic. I took one on my cell phone to show some of my girlfriends at work. I'll take one with the camera tonight!

I'm so happy! I have silkie chicks being sent tomorrow. I've been wondering how long I can hide them in the house before my husband notices LOL. Now I don't have to worry so much!

We have coons at the barn where my lionheads are. After a few more days out at the coop (traps) I'm going to move them to the barn and see if I can get those suckers too!

Good luck to you, but be very careful as they are the largest carrier of Rabies in the country. I know that where there is one coon there will be more so good hunting.

Great Job! I caught 3 last week and I still see foot prints of another one hanging around. I'll get it sooner or later. Can't wait to see pictures of your monster coon!

thanks guys! PoisonIvy I saw the pics of the ones you caught! I have live traps too but they didn't work. I was going to drown them in a barrel of water if I caught any. That way there is no mess of blood and no shooting. I've done it before and it works out nicely.

Four feet of racoon! WOW! That one is definately bigger than mine is. Its still in the trap so it may be taller but I doubt it, just FAT. What a lard! I get day old bread by the rack at our breadstore and he's been eating it for a long time. That and our molasses rolled oats!

I'm home from work now and gonna take pics while I feed our livestock. I have to have my brother show me how to release it from the trap. Apparently its a two women job cause I can't open it up.

I've never posted pics on here, is it difficult? Any pointers are appreciated

Okay here are the photos of coonzilla!

Kind of gruesome to some, but not to me. As far as I'm concerned, the only good coon is a dead coon! The orange wire thing around its head is the conabear (sp?) trap. Its still in the trap waiting for my brother to help me get it out and show me how to reset it. I didn't get those instuctions when my friend set the traps. I also noticed tonight that all the snare traps have been set off with nothing in them!

I hung it in the tree so you can see it better. The shed behind it is my coop. The green barrel is where I store my bread and this guys buffet every night. Not anymore! I was going to move the barrels to the inside but they are full of feed so they are too heavy. I won't be getting anymore feed until those are emptied and moved inside.
