I finally have a brood chicken!!! Now I need to know what to do with her! She's a bantam frizzle about 1 year old. I've only have her about 2 months and she's trying taken to the nest. At first she was hoarding everyone elses eggs, but we needed those. Then she started trying to hatch a fake egg...if I keep taking eggs and don't let her hatch any right now will she still go broody later when it's time for us to hatch eggs? I also need to know about the genetics of the eggs and chickens...I have a black cochin rooster bantam, I'm wanting to get some easter egger bantams in the spring...do I need a easter egger rooster to make chicks that will lay coloured eggs or can I still use the black cochin rooster?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

It should be fine to keep taking the eggs from her. She sound like she is a great broody hen. Just make sure you get her off the nest enough so that she eats and drinks plenty, that way when she does have eggs to sit on she will be nice and healthy for the job.

I don't know much about the EE breed. you may want to go to the index and post that question again under the breeds topic

Thanks! She's an adorable little hen and my sister in law said that she would hatch anything you put under her...including goose eggs. I have my fingers crossed that she will be that good for us too.
