I FINALLY have a diagnosis - I have been confused

Debi-

Wishing you all the luck and prayers and strength you need to heal/quit/and beat this.

Good luck and keep it up as far as quitting the cigarette addiction goes.

COPD is any obstruction in the air way , it isnt always cigarette caused, children with chronic asthma have a form of COPD.
If a person had asthma as a child their chances of developing it are 100 times more likely.
People who work in certain mills and factory will contract COPD.
Hay, dust, allergies etc will cause COPD.
While they love to claim smoking is the number 1 cause, thats not always the case.

My Late Aunt was diagnosed with COPD and she never smoked a day in her life, was never around anyone who smoked, BUT she worked in a factory that made furniture.seems the dust from sanded wood was the culprit.

I am by no means advocating smoking, I wish I could quit. all I am saying is there are other causes for this disease.

I am sure that being born 2 1/2 months too early and starting with damaged lungs didn't help in any way. And I am sure the smoking doesn't help either, however, I will quit in good time. I did good yesterday too.

Mahonri I am taking Friday Monday and Tuesday off - ya happy?

Well Debi at least you know what it is and know you can work on managing it. You have my prayers.

Anyone who knows the answer: Will my body adjust to the albuterol or will I shake like a leaf in the wind for the rest of my life? I feel a bit wired, but slept ok and woke up shaking bothe mornings so far and still feel wired during the day.

The good part of about that is I get ALOT done!

I eventually stopped shaking with the albuteral - sort of. When my symptoms were bad the meds didn't have too many side effects. When my symptoms were mild the meds shook me up. Go figure.

Advair made me worse I am on Symbicort now. Seems to be working but watch out for that withdrawal!! Woo!

Good luck with this Debi, it'll take a while to get your meds settled, but you can get back to as close to normal as you've ever been!

I had a dr. scare the crap out of me several years ago ...He was a huge man and he yelled, yes, yelled that he nor any of his colleagues would do surgery on my back (if it were needed)if I didn't quit smoking!! I tell you I had tried to quit before but when I got home I snuck into the computer room and lit one up ..then asked myself who in the world I was hiding from? My dh never smoked and he didn't like it but never said a word to me about my smoking..anyway, I put it out and never picked up another. Prior to this I had tried many, many times. don't ask me how this time worked as I have no idea. I think it has to be in your head a certain way...as in making a diet work that is life changing...So far the diet thing hasn't worked for me and I am way over weight. So you just keep plugging along and keep trying it your way till it works.
