I FINALLY have a diagnosis - I have been confused

I'm glad you finally got your diagnosis and now you can treat it. It must be a freeing feeling to finally know! We are with you and if you need us to research or anything for you let me know,, research just happens to be a specialty of mine!

Oh Debi, I'm so glad that you have a diagnosis! It's so much easier to know what you're fighting! Hugs

and prayers for ya!

Sounds like you have a great attitude!! Being an RN, one whose uncle has the same diagnosis, I will suggest you excercise those lungs by doing regular excercise. My uncle walks several times a week and after having the condition for several years now, his lung capacity has actually improved to the point that he only takes his regular inhaler and doesn't need a rescue inhaler very much. Will be keeping you in my prayers. Remember, this IS something that can be controlled!!

Hey Deb. I quit after smoking nearly 3 packs a day for 30years!!. Insurance doesn't pay for Zyban to help you quit, but it will pay for Welbutrin for depression. (SAME DANG STUFF!! just given different names for different things!!) Have your doc give you the Welbutrin 150 generic (only costs $10 for a month) You take one pill a day for a week and then 1 pill in the am and 1 in the afternoon for the next 2-3 weeks while you keep smoking. At the end of the 3 weeks you won't even care for a ciggy anymore. I stayed on the meds for another 6 months just to make sure I didn't back slide.

I've been smoke free for 6 years now.

Another thing that helped was we stopped smoking in the house. Trust me you don't want to stand on the back stoop when it's 10 degrees out to smoke a ciggy!!
