I've been reading posts for about a year and finally decided to register, so HI! Answers to standard sample questions are:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? We were given two laying hens in early November 2009 by a friend who also provided a coop and basic supplies to get started with.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Right now we have four; the two original hens who are starting to slow down, and two pullets we raised from peeps.
(3) What breeds do you have? All four are Red Stars.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I can't remember right off the top of my head!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I garden, knit, spin, bake, homeschool, and blog/facebook/twitter.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. Kids: 24 married son, 20 daughter, 13 son, 12 daughter, 10 son. Grandson born 7/18. Mini-boxer dog named Eli, parakeet named Chuck. I would someday like to live offgrid in a yurt and have a mule and wagon.
