Ida reds, are they still going to be laying for awhile yet? is it worth my time to go get them??

Thanks

I believe that Ida Reds are a variety of apples! Rhode Island Reds are a breed of chickens. No, I would not waste my time and money on 2 years old ida reds! (LOL!) (Just funnin' with ya!)~Beulah

Just a stab in the dark here, but perhaps ISA Browns?

Same advice, however, I'd not mess with 2 year old ISAs, and I've kept them for years and years. Great layer, awesome layer, wonderfully efficient commercial layer, but when folks say two years old, they often are referring to two laying seasons. Those are the strains best two years. After that, it falls to around 60% of their former output and there's nowhere but downhill even from there. Hope that helps.

Ida reds, Ha ha, I was just repeating what he emailed me, I thought that sounded familiar but not a chicken name.

I will ask him to elaborate, but thank you, I probably won't waste my time even if they are only $2, if they weren't any trouble at all to pick up then maybe, but I have to drive a ways for them.
