I found eggs!

I was cleaning the coop before my girls went in for the night. They are almost 4 months old. I saw what I thought was a chicken ball treat but then I realized it was solid color. There were 2 eggs in there!! These were the first eggs I have seen. I was shocked as we just moved to a new house a week ago and thought they were stressed with the new coop. Can I change their food from chick starter to other food? What do I feed them now that eggs are coming?

Are all of your chickens laying? Layer feed should only be fed if all chickens in that coop are laying hens.

16 or 22% layer pellets is what I use. One just has more protein than the other. I recently switched from 16 to 22 just to see if there is a difference. I am getting more days where every hen lays an egg, but I’m not so sure that the price difference is worth a couple more eggs a week.

You can continue feeding same feed that you're using, just have oyster shells available on the side.
