I found my Dominique hen dead today. Help please.

Yesterday as I was rushing to leave home, I noticed my hen running around the coop and run, but I didn't stop to go check her out. And, today I found my rooster sitting on the floor of the coop and her dead on the roost. When i looked her over, she and the rooster seem to have dried blood on their feet, and she seems to have a broken toenail. She was eating fine before today, the coop and run are very secure, and the rooster has been crowing almost non-stop ever since. Is it possible she was attacked by something, like the rooster? When I found her, she was somehow wedged between the roost and the wall of the coop. I also don't know her exact age, but I believe she was older than a year. Thanks for your help.
