Ok, the day has arrived!! My girls have finally begun to lay (doing the chicken dance ). I have a question regarding fertilizing of eggs....
I do have a rooster, I do not believe he is mature just yet, but may be getting close. I do not want babies. If a hen lays an egg that's been fertilized, and I remove it and put it in the fridge, does that stop the fertilization process? Or do I need to eat the egg within a day or two? I know you can leave fresh eggs out as long as the bloom isnt removed but I just dread the day that I crack open an egg that's bloody or has a partially grown chick in it. So I am trying to avoid the situation before it occurs. lol. Thanks for any info you can share, and Happy New Year to you all!!
