I found young hen on its side, head back and twitching

It was a two month old Poland hen, I found it this morning lying on its side. Body twitching & head thrust far back. It looked like it was in a lot of pain. I culled it. Does anyone know what it could have been and also are there any good books on poultry diseases & cures ?

Hard to tell, but maybe the hen broke her neck some how. Or she could have possibly had a stroke or heart attack.....Did you see any signs of an illness before this?

She was fine beforehand. However, one possiblity is the cold weather. She was still young and she born early winter (UK). A few weeks back I placed her in the outdoor coop which had a heat lamp in there.
