So I am really po'ed at the husband. He knew I was going to go get a roo tonight and that we needed to make a temp area for him because even though he thinks he knows everything like... it wont hurt to just put him in with the others.... I want to quarantine him so as not to infect my girls with something if he has something. Plus then they will have to be supervised when they are together after quarantine to get adjusted to each other. He is a year old (ish) roo and my ladies are 20 week and one has just started to lay.
Well we got into an argument about something totally different(long story in itself) and I left to get the roo and he did nothing like he said he would so when I get home nothing is done.
Not only that I have a dislocated shoulder and am not suppose to lift and he knew I went and got feed today and he said he would carry it in for me. Well he didn't do that either so I had to carry in 2 - 50 lb bags of feed and a ton of cucumbers a friend (who also found me the roo) gave me when I went to pick him up.

So my ? how do I make something myself tomorrow that will work for now. I am not a carpenter by any means and no "funds" to buy anything extra right now. There is extra chicken wire I can use but I don't know what to use to hold it up.I can use part of our current fence but I cant make it tall enough on the other 3 sides because I have no post and cant dig holes right now.

If I had known he was going to flake on me I wouldn't have gotten the roo but I already have him and need to get him out of the pet taxi. Poor guy cant stay in it for 30 days. He is fine for tonight but what else can I do?

Ok for quick fix, if you can go to tractor supply and ask them for a free empty crate ( the one they get with lawn mowers), law's also has them, then you can get it and put chicken wire around it.

If you can connect the chicken wire to your existing fence and some fence posts or whatever you have laying around then you can put a tarp or even chicken wire over the top to keep him in and predators out. It doesn't have to be super tall if it's just a quarantine pen. Just try to build it away from your other chickens and make sure he has some shade.

If you have a salvage yard around, they might have a container or dog house available. Or put an ad on Craigs list or Freecycle that you need a doghouse or, what about a used kitchen cabinet (hardware cloth for a top)?
Come to think of it, a used cabinet on a wagon base might make a pretty good mini coop.

Make a big circle with the chicken wire. Close it together with zip ties. Go to Walmart or a good hardware store and buy a pack of tent pegs. Secure your wire with the tent pegs. Put something in it for the roo to sleep in along with food and water. Cover with a tarp and there you go. A cheap quarantine pen. BTW. I always keep plenty of snaps around and use them so that I can secure things like a tarp. That way...removal of the tarp is a snap!

I have a small flock pullets - 9 Buff Orpingtons, 1 RIR, 1 misc and 3 Black Orpingtons. I needed a Buff Orpington Roo and I could not find one for the longest time. Out of nowhere I lucked out and found a very healthy looking Roo. I know this breaks all the rules... but I watched him closely for a while, and inspected him well for lice and tossed him in.

Yea I know.. i'm Bad lol

for a run, look on Craigslist for an inexpensive chain link dog kennel. After the 30 days, if you don't need it, just re-list it for the price you paid. It would essentially be free!
