Ok I live in New Hampshire and have a broody hen. When is the latest she should be allowed to attempt to hatch her babies? She is a silkie. The eggs are Isa brown eggs and one easter egger egg that she is sitting on. The roosters we have are 2 silkies and a easter egger.

I'd let mine hatch year round if they were so agreeable

The babies will need shelter from wind and rain, like any other bird. Beyond that, momma is well able to provide enough warmth for them. I think it was chickencanoe who had pics of chicks being brooded in sub freezing temps, running around happy as anything.
