I have a rat... WTH? Anyone else have rat issues? My girls are getting close to laying, and I don't want a rat stealing or breaking any eggs and then starting egg eaters... I hate rats. Where did it COME from? Gurrr!

Gonna get a rat trap today. I have spring traps... we shall see... little *******!
 
I have a rat problem over the winter because I put my chickens in a winter coop because I have them in a chicken tractor all the rest of the year I just noticed this year that I had a few rats in the coop and was worried but as soon as I took all available food away from them when the chickens went out on grass they went away. I also put a ton of poison in the down stairs of the barn under the coop so they couldn't get it but the rats could. Good Luck
 
I just set a trap. Hope I get the little butthead soon. I'd like to get him/her, probably a pregnant her, before night time. I think the chickens are afraid of the coop at night now because if it.

Your are probably best off putting poison down, there is never just one rat....usually a family close by

Yea... Poison is on the menu soon... trap is more to see if it REALLY is a rat. I saw something last evening, but didn't get too good of a look at it. I hope I get the little butt hole ..


I just read where someone said you have to have the coop a foot off the ground. Is that true? I never knew that.
 
Ick. I sure hope no one actually eats them. I wish it was that easy. Save me some grocery money. Kids are eating me out of house and home and husband said the chickens better start laying eggs soon cause they're costing a ton too... sigh
