I got a rooster in my basement....

Bob/Omelet pics attached. Would love to confirm their breed, thanks!!!

Omelet, I think, is a RIR. Only thing differentiating her from the neighbor RIRs (likely her sisters) is her comb is bigger. She's an awesome layer. Won't go outside till she's laid, screams at me if I bother her when she's "working," but otherwise a very gentle little bird. She is aggressive towards the neighbor birds though - especially when it comes to her food and territory. Is this normal for hens?

Bob-I have no idea. He's mostly red but white feathers are mixed in on his hind end and haunches. Before the maggot debacle he had beautiful white tail feathers which are all but gone now. And he's enormous...rather, a very tall bird. He got fat over the winter but now he's a lean, mean defender and protects Omelet above all the neighbor hens. Is this normal?

I'd love to know what breed he actually is - or if he's just a Heinze 57 - a mixed breed bird. He's got a haughty, stately, almost royal, temperament. He hates being picked up but once he's in my arms he settles down and has never, never, ever been aggressive towards me - which I was worried about initially based on negative "reviews" of roosters. He's a fierce guardian and alerts at the slightest sign of threat. He taken on all the neighbor roosters and their f@#$%ing guinea hens (the guineas tag-teamed him couple months ago but he held his own). Now no one messes with him.

He's a statuesque, regal bird despite the missing tail feathers, just gorgeous now that he's healed up from the maggot attack and survived the winter. I'm either a saint or crazy or both...I was certain either the weather, predators or I would be the death of him, despite it all, he's turned out to be a great bird.

I would be delighted if someone could shed light on what their breed is!!!!! I've got so many questions but now that I've officially joined the crowd, will direct them to the appropriate thread. Just an awesome site!!
