I got a silkie egg today

I think I got a silkie egg today...it was in the silkie pin.....it was small but not real small and it was white not brown.......it was either a silkie or one of the young RIR started laying....they are 5 months...but I think it was a silkie....I am so excited....I am going to let her keep laying and see if she will set

Congrats on the egg!

I have Silkie hens and they lay small eggs but larger than the usual Bantam egg, so yours is probably from the Silkie. The color I have been getting is more an ivory than a pure white. The best way to tell is to compare it to a pure white egg, such as one from a Leghorn.

I have never had any of my RIR's lay an egg that could be mistaken for white, they are always definately brown, even though some are lighter than others.
