I got another unusual chick

I haven’t hatched many, and not in years. Sorry, but no help.

This is my second time hatching eggs. This time only chickens, last time we had turkeys as well, one of the turkey... Well its spine and brain were outside it lived until it started pippin then just before it was all way out it died. This time I had some chickens that stopped devoleping my kids and I crack them open because I think its cool to see the difference stages and to teach them about the process. When I cracked one I thought it was the same as the I had last time but as I look closer I realize it is 3 yays and 2 beaks. Has anyone else had anything like this happen? It's amazing that embryonic development goes so well most of the time; it's so complicated. Fortunately!

Very cool. I do the exact same thing. Science, biology and anatomy in particular, is so interesting. A lot can be learned by studying the bird like you’ve done.

PLEASE tell me that chick is now floating in alcohol in a jar on your desk! That is fascinating and would make an amazing wet specimen.

I also open D.I.E.s to see what is going on... I haven't had anything unusual like that, though!

wow!! I would have loved to see them alive. I know that it may be cruel but it would be so cool to see what they would have looked like at hatching and full grown stages

most likely either twins or birth defects.
are these out of your flock or you getting them from somewhere?
I would be worried if both hatches you saw this stuff, there is a section on breeding stock and questions there, as many things can cause birth defects. Such as disease, bad genetics, nutritional deficiency in the flock. But don't know enough about this to help run down the issue if it's from your flock, if your buying the eggs and hatching them from same place I would mention this to them and find some place else to get eggs from. I've seen a lot of crazy ones that got shipped to the local farm store by breeders that just don't care or even look at what they are hatching.
