So this problem started about a week ago when we noticed a couple pullets missing. They disappeared one day while free ranging. At first didn't think much about it thinking that maybe they wondered off and would be back that night for "bed check". Turns out they didn't show up.
The next day still didn't see 'em. That night another one disappeared. So making sure everything was locked up at this point but missed something. The door for the chickens in the coop is hinged at the top and latched on one side. Seems a critter found that it could pry open the other side enough to get in. So the next morning found two more dead in the coop and another missing.
Yes that is SIX chickens it got. No more chickens are gonna die on my watch is what I told my wife. I ended up putting another latch on the other side of the door and sat up to see what was doing this. A raccoon showed up but I was unable to get a clear shot at it.
After a couple nights of learning to be smarter than the raccoon turned out like this.
