So I bought all of my birds from straight runs because they are cheaper that way. I have 9 chickens, 2 ducks, 2 geese, and 6 guineas. My chickens ended up as 7 hens and 2 roos!(1 roo was bought specifically to be a roo and one came from a straight run). My ducks ended up to be a male and a female (perfect!) And I just sexed my guineas today using the voice method, and guess what....5 girls and 1 boy!
I'm still unsure of what the geese are, but I still think my luck was very high with my birds this time!

Nice! Same with me. I got 6 Orpington eggs to hatch and got 4 girls 2 guys, so I can have 2 breeding trios, and my 9 button quail turned out to be 5 girls 4 guys but a cat sadly got the extra girl.

So sorry about the quail. I feel lucky because I haven't lost any birds from this batch except for giving away my two turkeys. Even then I had a male and a female turkey.
I was super excited when I knew for sure about all of my birds genders because the first batch of chicks I ever got on my own ended up 6 boys and 1 girl, and the girl unfortunately passed away when she tried to hide underneath a wire crate and slit her chest open. I ended up having a very large pot of chicken and rice when the boys grew up though lol, and I vowed to try again some other time. I'm glad I did, because this group is a keeper!
