So I figured they would start laying in Aug. Sept. sometime. Well half of them are laying..... Of the 10 hens only 5 are consistently laying. I thought maybe the other 5 were being sneaky and hiding their eggs since they free range over 3 acres. I tried locking them all in the coop/chicken yard ( 4W x 8L x 8H house and ~ 20' x 15 ' yard) but I still only got 5 eggs. I kept them up for 3 days figuring if they were laying...
I have 6 roosting boxes but the 5 all lay in 2. I have 2 Americana (1 is laying green/blue eggs), 2 Road Island Reds, 2 Golden Comets ( they just look like smaller reds to me), 2 Buffs, 1 Barred Rock and 1 black Bantum. I know 2 of the reds or comets and 1 Buff are laying. Anyway since they all are about the same age, I would think they all would start laying at the same time. The 5 that lay have been for about 3 weeks. Any suggestions?
