I have 3 hens, an Easter Egger and 2 Golden Comets. One Golden Comet laid a soft mushy egg, then a month later an egg a little larger than a quail egg. She otherwise is healthy, eats very well, is the alpha, so had to take the other Golden Comet out because she bullied her but not the Easter Egger. She doesn't appear egg bound, and is content to eat and poop. All 3 from same farm, same age. The 2nd Comet lays everyday and was given to me because after a month the alpha didn't lay. They come from Rent a Chicken so the Alpha must have laid at some point. Any suggestions? Have add Calcium, egg shells, vinegar to water, using layer feed as well as feed the farm provided. They love the clover I have to let grow in my yard now since they love so they free range in the yard about half an hour, since we're in the city. Every now and then a rabbit wanders in, and we have a service dog we only let out when they are in coop. Dog only out for potty breaks or when we garden. We also have fake strawberries they love. We are out with them to keep them from our real strawberries, blue and black berries. They get some. We grow organic so they shouldn't be getting chemicals and they get dechlorinated water, tap water set out 2 or 3 days or rain water. Her name is Hennyetta, the Boss.

Has it been very hot lately? Extreme heat can impact laying (mine have certainly been laying less), how old is she? It could also be the stress of moving and changes in flock dynamics. Not much you can do in any case but wait it out
