If you look closely you can see a feather imprint on the egg

Hi From Australia,

A very exciting day a couple of days ago WE GOT OUR FIRST EAT!! She has layed 3 days in a row, had 1 day break and started laying again today!! She is so proud of herself and we are so proud of her!!

Is it normal that she has skipped a day?

Can anyone tell me what breed she maybe.... she has black feather and when she is in the sun they shine emerald?

Thanks for having a look :)

Congratulations on your first egg! Sorry, but I couldn't get to the pic. Maybe you could try uploading it again.

I tried making the photo smaller let me know if you can see them!

Congrats.. Its so exciting when they start laying... makes for a proud hen and a proud chicken mom :). As far as it being normal for them to start and stop. When they first get started laying. That is a really normal thing. It took my girls about 3 weeks to get really consistant.

You may already have this but if not.. make sure theres a offering of Oyster shell somewhere for the hens. It will help them build stronger shells:)

As far a her breed I have a few Australorps in my flock and she looks a lot like them. I love how the feathers shimmer green in the sun :)

Congrats in your first egg. My guess would be an Austrlorp cross. She seems to have brown under her neck which a standard Australorp does not.

I have put in there dust bath extra sand but I will defiantly put some in there feed. I'm guessing I should start to mix in with there feed layers pullets?

I just google Australorps and she does look like that bread, they are beautiful!! Both girls have red around there neck so they must be a mix breed!

She was so excited about her egg she hasn't stop talking and her sister is talking a lot also, I think we may be in for some more eggs haha

This is her sister

My guess would also be Australorp X. I have one of those and she lays very, very well. And she's about 6 years old! Congrats on your eggs and enjoy!

Congratulations! She looks to be an Australorp or maybe a mixture.

I have three of these and they are such calm, loving girls! Their plumage feels so soft! What color are her legs? My Australorps have black legs and toes. The underneath of the feet are yellow.
