I got my first egg today!

so excited that one of girls laid her first egg today. I am not sure which one did it (I think it was Jewel the speckled Sussex) but I am so excited! Just wanted to share with other chicken people like me. Here is a picture next to a store bought large white egg.

She is 19 weeks, I don't have any recent pictures of her. I also have a red sex link and a Barred Rock both of which look a lot more mature. I will try to post a picture of her tomorrow. I am just so excited I did not expect any eggs for at least another week.

Cool! My chicks have finaly started laying well (1 or 3 of them have!) I was beginning to wonder since 2 of my 5 duck hens have started laying (one almost3 weeks ago!) My 1st duck had 3 or 4 shellless eggs and one half shelled. But so far (over 3 days) all the chicks have laid small to med (most small) well formed eggs. Lets hope it continues for both of us!

Let's hope so! I am hoping my other 2 girls will start soon too! They were all gathered around like they were frightened by it, it was so fun to watch them "talking" about it.

I don't know the exact age of my chickens but they are all barred rocks and we think they are about 20 weeks old and still nothing. I look for that first egg everyday but still no luck.
