I am soooooo jealous of you.....
I have always always always wanted a Great Dane....They truely are one of my dream dogs...
Great Danes----still wanting
Great Pyrenese---got 2
St. Bernard---still wanting
Newfoundland---got 1 (he's actually a newfoundland/st. bernard cross)
Love the large dogs....not so much a 'small' dog person...

your so lucky, i had a fawn great dane, ears cropped, just gorgeous. she passed away at only 1 year due to a freak accident. Now my husband said no more great danes

congrats on your beauty

I love danes! I had 5 of them when I was living with my parents as a family dog, 3 males and 2 female, and only 2 of them at once. Our first one was fawn, the rest were black. I'm very partial to the males since the females tended to be a little bossy and hardheaded.

Geat danes are known to bloat beacause they eat to fast then run.

Here's a tip: Get a bowl with corners so it's harder for him to shovel the food in fast. This slows the eating down and they are not as likly to bloat later.

He sure is a cutie, I have a sister that has one and I have always wanted one, but we just don't have the room and they need a lot of excersise.

I will be looking forward to more cute pics and stories of his clumsiness lol

What's his name?

Julie

He definitely is one of the clumsiest I've ever owned lol.
Poor guy still doesn't have a name. I got him this morning and am waiting on dh to come home so he can see him and help. Ideas are good

drivegirl54 have you read the book "Amazing Gracie, A Dogs Tale" by Dan Dye & Mark Beckloff?

Its about a deaf and almost blind Great Dane and how she changed these guys lives. The two men started Three Dog Bakery.

OI sure haven't but I'll be looking for it tomorrow when I go to the library. Thanks!

Oh, he's beautiful!

I have two now, a harlequin and a white. I love them, although I'm considering a different breed next time, it's just so hard to watch them get old! Maybe I just feel that way right now because Havoc is 9. Seems like by 5 they start showing their age abit, Iris is 6 and I've noticed her taking more time getting up. Really that is the only age related thing I'm seeing, w/ both of them, Havoc is getting weaker in his rear (he falls sometimes, even fell down the stairs), and I guess Iris is to. They still love to go for walks and hikes and runs, but I try to limit it w/ Havoc because I worry about him over doing it.

They are great dogs! I love them, thought I'd always own atleast one! And I may still! Hard to resist those cute puppy faces! (and adorably too big feet!)
