Ok, I am a little on the mad side right now, you build them a house, give 'em plenty of food and water, the next thing ya know, out of now where, bam, right in the muscle on my shin. Yes I was spurred, went in a little, lotta blood, from me not Roo, Do I need to worry bout infection, kinda hurts, like a nail went in, to make matters worse he torn a hole in my good jeans... What do I dooooo...
Thanks, chief

1. Mend the jeans.

2. Thoroughly clean the hole in your leg and treat with neosporin.

3. Update tetnus shots if necessary.

4. Make some dumplings to eat with the rooster.

Yep, clean the wound thoroughly, pack it with anti-biotic goo, and watch it because they are bad for becoming infected.

Take a broom to the rooster and run him ragged a bit. Most of the time they won't cross you again. If he does he'll be delicious.

.....Alan.

Yes, it does hurt and yes, it does make you mad when they do sneak attacks like that.

You most definitely need to wash your wound out really well with peroxide or betadine if you have any. Next make sure you get some triple antibiotic ointment on it then cover with a bandage. Be sure to watch it for infection, which you more than likely won't have to deal with if you do what was suggested.

As far as the roo goes, do not turn your back on him again. He's got you once and more than likely will try and do it again. Here is a link to a page that gives fantastic advice on how to get your rooster back under control. You need to be sure he knows who is boss and that you are in control of the flock, not him.

Last but not least, welcome to BYC!

Thanks, I am currently digging out pressure cooker, he's kinda tough.

Freezer camp all the way... life is too short to deal with aggressive roos

Lots of neosporin and at the FIRST sign of infection (redness, discharge that is not clear, temperature, red line going up from wound, chills etc) you better be at your dr.. pronto!!!

If you decide to keep your spurring rooster-I would definitely de-spur him. Hurts a whole lot less when they flog you if they don't have those spurs to dig in! Trust me, been there, done it!
