I had one that refused to lay in the nest boxes, she kept laying on the floor and because of the small size of my hen house it is hard for me to get it from there. I tried a few fake eggs and she still was laying on the floor. So the past few days I stopped collecting the eggs in the nest boxes and only took hers off of the floor. Today she layed in the nest box for the first time. It is a start, hopefully she will continue to do so.

Nothing like a little chicken psychology:p

Good job!

Yep, leaving a few of her eggs where I wanted her to lay worked for my hen too. She was moving her nest all over the yard trying to find a place where I would not take her eggs. The last place I found had 5 eggs in it. I thought she had stopped laying. Now I leave 3 eggs in the nest box, mark them, and take the oldest one every day she lays a new one. It works and she has not broken any of them, as I was warned by other BYC folks she might.
