@Chicks In VA how would rate your experience buying at auction? I'm looking to add 2 pullets to bring our small flock up to 4 and considering trying out a local livestock auction. Thanks!

its hit or miss i would try craigslist
auctions have a lot of disease i think it would be better to do craigslist

There is one in Nathalie and one in Appomattox
1 is called hollering hill, the other one is called cedar grove

I went to the Hollering Hill one, but didn't stay to bid. It was during covid, and not many people were wearing masks. Turned out the owner got covid and died, according to the grapevine.

They have a nice set up but they can be mean to the animals

Unfortunately, that seems common at auctions. Saw quite a bit of it in TN.

Brookneal, Rocky Mount, i used to go to Rice, there's one in Lynchburg. It has been too hot, and gas has been too expensive for me to go. Apparently sales are poor anyway.

I was planning to go to Gilmanor this past spring, but it rained. Had hatched a whole bunch of polish chicks to sell, so now i have all these extra birds to sell. Plus 2 rabbits and a young male Nigerian Dwarf goat. Cost of feed is killing me!
