Perches are good stuff. All our runs have 3-4 3ft long perches in groups. That way the whole flock congregates on them for mass feather maintenance after the afternoon grain. I do a really simple easily maintained perch now that consists of half a broom handle ( really cheap and smooth) for the perch and a couple of 2x1 for the uprights with two holes an inch apart st the top. You just put a plastic cable tie through the holes, round the broom handle and pull tight.

Well the chicks win they have been playing, climbing, sleeping, and pooping on it all day. I really did not mind losing the battle. Kind of cute.
