So come to find out, my girls prefer to have the human door OPEN during the day so they can lounge at the entrance.. There is more of a breeze coming through the coop with the big door open so they like that I’m sure. SO, I made a simple latch to keep it open during the day and so far they are digging it! Lol!

If your weather is anything like mine, they need any breeze they can get...looks like they have it working for them now!

I started doing the same thing with the big door. Some of them like to fly down from the roost and out the door into the run. I can almost hear them saying, "WHEEEEE!"

@N F C Yes! It’s been in the 90’s here lately and they are in deep shade as well as a covered run. But keeping the big door open has provided extra airflow and breeze!

@Sally PB, that’s too funny! So far mine are just laying on the coop floor right in front of the opened big door!

That's taking the open home layout concept to a new level

Yep! It just so happened to workout that where the coop was already located back before I converted from the kids’s playhouse they outgrew to the coop it is now was already under a huge oak tree in our mostly shaded back yard. The big door and windows are in the north and south sides of the coop so there’s usually a nice breeze blowing through there.
