My EE are not laying well but my Red Stars are laying almost every day!!!

I have 4 layers paying rent, 1 to 3 eggs per day, 4 bantams that should be paying rent, but are free loaders, and 2 (buff orps) that probably won't lay until spring...With 2 families that want eggs besides this one...what is a chicken supposed to do?

OMG I couldn't imagine buying farm fresh free range eggs for $5.39 a dozen!!! Here we have the farmers market in the summer and the people sell them for $1.75 a dozen.

Luckily mine haven't started to slow down too much yet. I am still getting 4 to 5 eggs daily out of 3 california whites (most reliable breed that I have), 1 slw, and 1 br. The br is the most unreliable layer I have.

I have about 5 dozen in the fridge right now and will have to take some to work to give away.

I told my EE girls they get until 30 weeks, but no free pass for the Golden Comets. Unfortunately I suspect they know I'm a vegetarian, so they laugh at my "chicken nugget" threats behind my back.

I've had to buy eggs since August. My EE's haven't laid since mid-August and my leghorn started Moulting last week. My buff was never a gret layer and I have seen an egg from her for about 3 weeks.

My new girls started laying this week and I actually got 2 eggs today. I really don't like buying store bought eggs. They taste funny now.
