Sorry for your loss. I think you did the right thing and that the overwhelming number of scissor beaks should be culled. It's not worth the quality of life loss to keep them alive, and since they can't express frustration or pain or hunger as explicitly as a non-prey animal, they can waste away for weeks before finally succumbing from gradual starvation. It's not fair to the birds.
