Happy Belated Birthday to you! Outside of family I have 2 people that I stay in touch with,but I don't even get to see them anymore. I really don't even care anymore.
Have you tried some local *adult* type classes? Sometimes you can connect with others there. I stopped trying years ago,but I do make an effort to chitchat with everyone,and lol it is usually about my chickens!
Even with so few friends sometimes I still forget a birthday or 2.Thankfully they forgive me.As long as dh says *happy birthday* I am good.I don't expect cards or gifts.
I started down the road with parties for the kids,and they WENT to parties,but it got to be so expensive.I ended up not doing parties so that what money we had could all go to the child.I will let the kids have anyone over for a speacial day at the restaurant or movies,but the whole party stuff-forget it.My kids get invited to parties via school friends all the time.Kids who in 2-3 years have NEVER had my kids over for an hour of play.I can't spend $20 on each of these kids anymore just so my kids can be part of a birthday party.
In the summer my kids(and friends) have a big party for themselves.Some of their friends are pretty poor,so they never have parties or even get anything.So we have one big party for all of us.
