I hate gnats!

am an uneducated newbie looking for input/ discussion from more experienced !!!! read the responses to my question

would (skin so soft from Avon) be a effective? Is it still made by avon, and would it be harmful to birds if it could be effective to be used? In Basic training the gnats were so bad in AL skin so soft was the only thing that kept them off us...
Hi Patricia,

Just had a look here at End Mosquitos website as I wondered what was in Skin So Soft. Sounds interesting. If I used it on my flock, I would set them in my lap and only rub small amounts of it on their feathers, not on the skin, and of course be careful around the eye area. The breed of chickens I have are Golden Spangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben, which have a mop of "hair" on their heads, so I could wipe this lotion on these feathers, too, but I'm not sure about other breads that only have a comb. Many lotions have alcohol in them as well as urea, which can burn tender skin areas, not to mention the sloughing ingredients in some products. Try a little just to test it out.

I noticed since I last posted that these pests have greatly decreased in numbers and my small flock is no longer hanging out in the chicken house to stay away from them, but are going back to their usual foraging.

Thanks for the feed back. :)
