I have 2 of these an 6 wood traps an 5 of the 6 I got last night were in the new traps.

That one finger set is real nice to.

Rats can eat threw steal wool by the way. They can eat in to a soup can too. You would not believe some of the things I have seen them eat in to.

I understand totally the desire to reduce or eradicate rats and mice. I have found some remedies that prevent me from having to resort to the horrors of poison and sticky traps (if ever anything was medieval...). I have never and will never use those things because they can have unintended consequences and because of the suffering they cause.

Yet I understand the dilemma and offer a couple of suggestions: Besides ensuring that all food is out of reach at night (be really diligent about this and they will seek greener pastures), when I have a flare up of unwelcome critters I use Mouse Magic by Bonide - an all natural non toxic mouse repellent (peppermint and spearmint leaves). Comes in little packets that you can place wherever you like. Some Ace Hardware stores carry. I also soak cotton balls in peppermint oil and place in inconspicuous places wherever I want to discourage mouse or rat entry. I can never even smell the peppermint but even if I did it would be pleasant. There are also other repellents that can help with these situations. I have no mouse or rat problems since employing these techniques. It can take a little time but that's okay with me.

Also, for folks trying to contend with rats in their coops, truly the only long term solution is to prevent entry. Hardware cloth works wonders - time intensive in the beginning but lasts forever.

Get the traps you can reset like the t rex ones. I do have the snap trap VICTORs,but it is gross touching them after they have brain on them.Ewwww. I just keep traps set all over.LOL,I had them nesting in the engine of my old car. They are cute but I don't want them all around voiding and chewing up everything.

Never put poison in the attic, crawl,or anywhere you can smell decomp.Oh the smell when you can not find the body!!!!

Sense someone asked. No, mothballs have to be in concentrations high enough to make you sick to deter rats an mice. There not meant to be used in your living environment anyway. Only storage building an enclosed boxes an bags.

Thanks everyone for your ideas and suggestions. I will try the peppermint oil thing. Plus talk to hubby about sealing up, the house for me
