I hate taking my parrots to the Vet :(

Its that time of year ... I need to take the parrots for their annual check up

CBC * complete blood count *

Gram stain

vaccinations

and the physical exam

I hate doing it ..... exspecially when they take blood

I feel like a bad bird mommy

My cockatoo Sunny has a apponitment in may

I sympathize! Mine are due soon for their yearly. It's a 1.5 hour drive one way to get to our avian vet, and the visit itself is expensive (especially for blood panels!) but worth it. I'd be heartbroken if anything happened to my birds.

I know what you guys are talking about. My vet is 3.5 hrs away & expensive but that's the price of having birdies... On the other hand, I don't feel so bad about taking them to the Vet's. Call me mean but it's my little pay back for Guen's biting. AND I am being a good Mommy, making sure my birdies are in good health

I sympathize too! Thankfully my conure forgives the vet afterward if she offers up treats and head scritches. It is like all the bad stuff was instantly forgotten. My vet loves my conure, she has had some really unruly parrot patients, so one that will sit calmly for her and not bite is a gem.

Thankfully only a 15 minute drive and a vet who specializes in Avians

$199.19 for everything though ! it drives me crazy ! i think its more expensive because I am new at the hospital just moved here about 4 months ago and it includes everything

but he doesnt forgive LOL ( for about a day )
He is a cockatoo and he remembers and he bites me afterwords to scold me .... and he calls the vet a bad bird LOL

He also igonres me the whole ride home and about 1 day afterwords , i guess i did the same to my mom when i was little after my shots LOL
