now i've done some reading on mastiffs. they are compared to be like black labs. very protective though. mastiffs are my dream dogs, the nice ones. i hope yours don't hurt you and your family and pets. good luck

RedfogsFlock you probably already know this, but do not underestimate just how FAST these big dogs can be. Once they start running at you, you don't have long until they're on top on you.

I'd say forget the paintball gun and go with a coach gun. Be safer that way. Spend less on ammo too... a few rounds for the coach compared to a hundred for the paintball lol.

We use just two options when dealing with problem dogs. First, if they are not aggressive to me, but wanting to chase my animals, I will pen them and have them picked up by animal control. However, if they are aggressive to me to where I am concerned for my and my kids safety
they will be shot. I just have no tolerance for human aggressive dogs whatsoever. I had a big one circling my house one night, snarling at my dogs and my cats through the fence and stalking my goat barn. He came towards me growling and barking when I yelled at him from my front door. Husband got the gun, that was the end of that.

My opinion here is that if you shoot them with a paintball gun first, they won't see your property as a threat, they'll see YOU as a threat. So if you hit them with anything non-lethal, they'll just learn that when they hear the door you're coming and they'll bolt. But what's stopping them when you're in the shower or uptown? I have some neighbor's dogs that pack up and come over once in a while, and my husband and I both know what to do the next time they pay a visit. We've lost two sheep to our own dog (long story) and have seen these dogs chasing deer on our property. So we're not taking any chances when it comes to things like this. Or llamas can help too
