I have 12 hens and am getting only 1 egg aday?

Why will my chickens not lay? is it because of the cold. they plum stopped laying all winter and finally during the coldest spell we had i got an egg but before i got it it froze and busted.now there laying one aday but its only one hen? when will they all start laying and when will they start sitting?

Light Light Light!

To lay they should have lots of light(12 hours or so). We have 4 hens and 2 runner ducks, we get 2 duck eggs a day without fail, and 3-4 chicken eggs a day. These birds are all less than one year old, they are from last years hatch.
