I have 2 Rouen ducks that are 2 months old. I'm not sure what sex they are.

Do a search for voice sexing. You can hear the difference. Feathers are good, but then you are waiting til 16 wks or so. I don't recall ever using bill color in Rouens, although I have noticed a difference with Khaki Campbells. Or of course you can always wait til 20-24 wks and see if you get an egg. Just kidding. About ranging. My bet is if you've got a pond you won't see your ducks, they'll be in heaven and will always be in your pond. My ducks will sometimes lock themselves up at night, usually I just give them the call ("Heeeeeeeerrrrrre Laaaaaydiiiiiies") and they go. Take treats along just in case.

not always true. i had a female that had a greenish-yellowish bill when she was young
I've heard of one or two who seem to have "confused" colorings/traits; there are always genetic oddballs every now and then. But I'm guessing 99 times out of a 100 (if not more), if it's a true mallard or rouen, bill color is an accurate way to identify them. Of course they could voice sex by now too and confirm it.

I have two Rouens just like that! I think I have one male and a female. Will you tell if the drake grows a ring around its neck?
