I have bobwhites, at the beginning I thought one of the was broody as she would sit on the nest for a long time, and she wouldnt even let me get close to touch the eggs, she would attack me, so I was almost sure she was broody, cuz even the male would sit on the eggs whe she was off to eat, but the she would just abandon the eggs and would never come back, after that happening like three times I just stop ltting her sit on the eggs even for a little while i would just push her off the nest and I would gather the eggs!

Sounds familiar...that's why i just use my silkie hen to hatch quail eggs now...if the eggs are fertile she will get them hatched even with bobwhite eggs.
