for 2 days now shes been sitting, i read here all about their nesting, and added a bunch of brush and pine branched around the hole she lays in, and left her last 4 eggs in, shes snuggled right in, has many more eggs now , her first hatched from bator 2 days ago, and i adopted 2 chicks to go in with the lonely little one, hes doing fine with his older brothers,

ill get closer when shes more calm, the {i want to get you rooster} is not nice. and untyes our shoes and scratches if he can, here is a pic of the bator baby

and the adopted kids i got to keep him company while we wait

im sure ill have probs with this, can i leave the baies with her if she hatches them?thanks all

Good luck with her. Hopefully the roo is just protective and not overall just mean and will be protective of the chicks instead of agressive.

thanks to all for replies , i did get more,{ actually 1/4 by 1/4 mesh}for the pen, to finish it, and the roo is not mean to the hen, he is mean to me, not one bit afraid, this pair was raised by a silky , i know now not to do that, now i have a problem, the 10 day old chicks i got to keep my little guy company, already think a pair, one is mean to the other, the little one just runs away and he is ok, the chick is picking the toes of the other and making her hide , i took him out and clipped his wings thinking she could get up on the water jar, and he couldnt , didnt work, do i need a different brooder for the mean chick,? is 85 warm enough for a 10 day old with full wings,? what do i do? thanks, i hate to separate, their 3 chicks in a large rubbermade tub with red light,

I would try placing grass clippings inside your brooder and see if that helps stop the mean one from being mean. With ringnecks that is the nature of the beast. They are pretty bruttle to one another. When you first place a chick in the brooder you should start at 99.5 and for each week drop the temp down 5 degrees. For your ten day old i would think that 85 degrees is still a little on the cool side. I would suggest raising the temp about 9 degrees.

thanks 2 more chicks hatched, now im setting up the other brooder for the 2 older ones , i dont think when these are dry thy will do well with the 4 day and the 10 day. if ya think it will work let me know, thanks,

the clover i put in the brooder worked, thanks, i also gave them a big piece of broccoli to fight with, having trouble with the 2 newest chicks, weak and one deformed, ill post separate, thanks all,
