Weird,I have a broody RIR she is sittin on about 4 eggs.
I really didn't think RIRs went broody.....
Interesting, I guess we will see what happens.
 
Nah, it's not weird, really. I have RIRs that go broody. They're production reds, too. Well, that is to say, they're not the dark mahogany show-type RIRs, but they do behave like old-fashioned RIRs. They're very broody and very friendly.

Congrats. RIRs can make great mothers.
 
Thanks, I was under the impression that they do not go broody that often.
Out of all my 1 year old hens she is the first I have had to go broody.
 
Apparently chickens don't read the operating manuals bcsause I have a broody white leghorn hen on 10 eggs.
