I have a dog who kills chickens HELP

then she is around the chickens only supervised and leashed until you get her trained. You put a carnivore around prey (though most dogs look at chickens as toys, not food) and left them alone. What did you expect to happen? It's a normal reaction for dogs to want to chase things that run away.

Well, nothing tastes like chicken! I have a dog that used to kill chickens at night, and another that played with one to death, and we used to have one that would kill them no matter what.
It depends on the dog a lot of times.

We tried tying up the dog with the dead chicken tied to the collar until it rotted off. She probably enjoyed the latter part, to be honest.

A better thing to do is leash your doggo and take it into the pen with your chickens. Whenever he looks at them crossways, swat him with something. It doesn't have to hurt, just scare him, but it may depend upon how stubborn he is. We used this tactic with hunting beagles. They have chased many rabbits, but ignore the chickens.

Welcome to BYC! Have you done an intro thread yet?

Often you have to look at the basic respect level the dog has toward it's family. If she grabs something you don't want her to have in the house will she leave it when you say? Will she pay attention to you in a distraction type situation? If no to both and she's got that prey drive you'll have to start from scratch with respect and obedience. What breed is the dog?

It can take weeks, or even months, to train a dog not to do what it's naturally hard-wired to do. And, sometimes, depending on the breed, you may have a tougher battle.
Take some time to watch some of the dog whisperer videos on youtube. He actually works with a dog and chickens in one episode.
X2 good ideas

I don't let my dogs out when the chickens are accessible. Although, I have taken the dogs out to the coop and they go out there when I do chores. The chickens are confined when the dogs are out there and the dogs are confined (in the house) when I let the chickens have more free time.
The chickens aren't going to be mad and neither will the dog if you give them boundaries (neither animal has human emotions).
I would rather have confined live chickens than the opposite. The dog has already killed two chickens, so it cannot be out with them at this time without further training - training that involves commands like stay, leave it, drop it, etc.
Sorry to hear this situation has happened - it sounds as if you are new to chickens and to byc. Welcome to byc, wish it were on better terms.

Welcome! It's all about total separation and training, and time. Lots of training time, and supervision, and separation, until either your dog decides that chickens aren't toys that taste good, or you have very good separation.
My current dogs love chicken too, because I haven't spent the time and effort necessary to train them to avoid the birds. What I do have is VERY GOOD fencing to keep them apart.
