Okay, I am very new to this so. I want to order some chicken eggs to raise as a pet but I am wondering what chickens lay eggs. and what breed do I want. and how do I order it.

If someone could give me a link to a general overall chickens that would be great.

mypetchicken.com is a good place to start learning about breeds, and with a focus on chickens as pets.

    All FEMALE chickens lay eggs.

Do you want quiet chickens? Cuddly chickens? Good Layers?

You can order chicks from a hatchery or buy them at a feed store.

    desert of calif
i got a great batch from "IDEAL".. usually first timers IMHO best to order "brown egg layers"
idealhatchery.com ....?????? just go look around at the "heavy breeds" or the "brown egg layers"..
always order pullets/females... they are usually 90% accurate so you could get a rooster(male) or two..
buy a BOOK about chickens.. "how to raise chickens" or some other title.. you shuld get the "know how to" first, what breeds to order should be you second concern..

imo.. first timers should get, ROCKS barred rock, buff rock, white rock... and RIRs
