I have a Sabastopol male goose. He has a mate for several years and then she was killed. I lost three geese over a year. I lost two females and a male. The female has paired up with the other male leaving my sabastopol alone and isolated. The female was on the nest when her mate was killed. Both of the single males have taken a role is raising the three babies. Geese are so amazing. The sabastopol male did start to steal the babies and try to raise them himself and chase the female away. But the other male stepped in and stopped that. So he is all alone. BTW he is the father of the other male and female. He was my first. What should I do to make him feel better and raise his spirit. he just walks around eating dead leaves most of the day. It is really said to watch. No one wants to sell a female. Is there anyone out there that will sell a female sabastopol? I am hoping he will live long enough for the three babies to get old enough and he can pair with one of them. Any advise of suggestions would be so helpful.

How old are the babies? That’s sad I hate when this happens poor fellow. I only know one member who’s active on here that hatches Sebastopol that’s @Gray Farms . If the babies are older maybe putting your gander and the 3 together and seeing who chooses who.

It sounds like you have a predator problem to fix before you buy more geese. Aside from that if I were you I'd just let the babies grow up and let him pair with one of them.

What ever you do don't isolate him any more than is happening naturally. Eventually he may take an interest in one of the young females and things can get back to normal for him.

We had a pair of Toulouse that were bonded for life. She was attacked by something and died. After that, within just a few days, he just went to bed one night and was dead the next morning.

They are amazing creatures...geese.

Yes. Hey have fenced the whole area. I am butted against a large canal which the ducks and geese love but I think we have a gator or coyotes issues it has all been fenced and they can’t get to the water any longer.

I do agree that they are amazing. Best ever parents. He is not isolated by me. It is the other two that isolate him. I hate to see him so all alone. If he makes it over
The next two months he may pair up with one of the new babies. He is my first goose and I am mad about him. He is my Aldo. Thank you.
