Last year i bought 10 silkie chicks... 5 white and 5 black... as they grew i noticed the white ones were getting HUGE i started thinking to my self.. well thats not what i want... so, i sold all of them except one, my favorite of the bunch, hoping that some day she will go broody..
also i am aware that she may be a mix...

Then one day i show a pic of her to my fellow chicken friend... she said that she looked like a standard silkie!! omg i freaked, and i thought i just had a freak of nature... im taking a chance i ordered 20 more white chicks from the same person as did my friend . so we have 40 chicks coming on tuesday! all white silkies since the black ones seemed to be avareage size.

if things work out and we get larger than normal silkies....

how do we make new colors? i have a nice Buff silkie roo and a nice black silkie roo, but they are normal size.. around 2-3 lbs and the HUGE silkie hen that i have is closer to 10 lbs i think. we will have to AI right??

my friend has partridge silkies..

how do we make these colors

Blue
Black
Blue splash
Buff
Partridge??

also, i need all the info i can find on standard silkies!! any help is appreciated

If you have standard silkies, you have a RARE commodity and there are those of us who would pay for those hatching eggs. White is my fav anyway.

May we see more photos of that bird?

She does not seem to be all silkie to me. She looks to have a single comb and is lacking the leg feathering of silkies, but the photos don't define the comb very well.

i will try to get more yes. she is pure silkie.... 5 toes, she had leg feathering as a chick but it didnt come in with her adult feathers. from what i understand, standard silkies dont have leg feathering?? idk this is why i want more info on standard silkies

illl go out and get some better pics

Where did you get it from? I think she is a Silkie cross? She looks to have a single comb, lacks the feathering on the feet from what I can see, and lacks the Silkie type tail.
The UK Standard for Large Fowl Silkies is only 4 lbs for roosters and 3 lbs for hens..
Large Fowl Silkies have Feathered Legs and Feet it is part of the breed.
Here is a link to the UK Large Fowl Silkie Standard. Disqualifications say:
Single comb. Toes other than five in number. Green legs. Featherless legs or feet. Vulture hocks.

i got her from my local feed store last year along with 5 others.

She has the black skin 5 toes and so on.

i have not weighed her yet i plan on getting a scale as soon as i can find one

for her to be a mix, it would have to be several generations wouldnt it?? because the silkie feathering is ressisive right?? im not sure really still just learning you know??
