She's free range now, she can't stand to be cooped up. She goes nuts, throwing herself against the wire, etc.

Make her an open top nest next to the coop then, you could prob train her to use that. Sounds like you have a claustarphobic hen.

Yep - any creature can be - it's just very very rare in non humans
