I have a mixed flock, but this one’s unique?

This is really awesome! I’d love to be able to experiment with whatever this mutation is. Plus if it works out you might end up making some money off of it ;)
Back when I was raising/breeding peach-faced lovebirds, one of the members on the forum I was on got a mutation in her birds where the whole head was red instead of just the face.

The following breeding to establish the trait was very intensive, and very rigorously structured. None of this 'just throw them together and see if any more pop out' kind of thing. It's not for the faint of heart. You need real dedication to be able to properly establish the trait.
Different genes work in different ways. I’m no expert but there’s a good chance whatever gene this is would play out very differently than the gene that gave peach-faced lovebirds a red head. The only way to find out IS to ‘just throw them together and see if anymore will pop out.’ If you don’t know anything about something then you MUST experiment in order to know something. Idk I just think you have to start somewhere

Sorry for the long post :p

As soon as the weather warms up a bit, (I’m in Ohio) I’ll hatch a collection of eggs from my mixed flock and see what I get again. (Short term).

As soon as she starts laying I think I’ll hatch some of her eggs and see what I get as well (long term 3-6 months). If I see results similar to her I’ll let everyone know and we’ll go from there.
Next week is supposed to have some decent weather days 50 degrees or so and I get 8-10 eggs a day right now so I’ll just collect for a few days and hatch those.( After my laughing chicks are completed Jan 3-5th)
