I have a pip, YeeHaw!!!!

I didn't have much luck with my first try at incubating, but, I have two broodies, one on ten eggs and one on five eggs and today when they got off their nest I thought I would go sneak a peek and one of the eggs was peeping, too cool. Went out awhile later and it has a pip, so I should have some little ones soon.

Congratulations!!!! Don't give up with the incubation, it's too cool to do but I know it's disappointing when they don't hatch.

Yes! Bobbie, don't give up! I know you can do it better next time now that you have a feel for the bator and candling. And you know where you can get some eggs, right?

Thanks Jackie, I was quite disappointed when I failed on my first try, these hens must have known that because they both went broody on me, lol I am hoping for a little fluffy butt my morning, you don't know how bad I want to go check again tonight, lol

Cyn, I bought some Delaware eggs off of ebay should be here tomorrow, so I will be ready for some more of your eggs in about 21 days, hint, hint, lol

A question I have about the babies, should I leave them with the momma's or maybe bring them in seeing as how it will be getting colder? Thought about bringing the eggs in and finishing them in the bator so the grandkids could maybe see them hatch, tell me what you think.

I would leave the eggs with momma as she is the best hatcher you could find. Is there anyway you could bring chicks momma and all inside? Maybe you oculd make them thier own space.

When I have hatched chicks under a broody hen, I would bring the chicks to the house to a brooder after they hatch. Of course my hens pick the worse place to go broody, never in a nest box.

I have a baby this morning and three more are pipped, yea

One has a pretty good hole pipped but the membrane seems dry should I help????

and it is in the bator now. I figure I will let it dry and put back with momma,

We have eight babies now, two eggs to go under this hen, Five eggs under the other broody nothing out of them yet, but, she is week or so behind the first hen. Myself and the grandkids are all so excited.
