So i have a hen shes a mutt breed shes pretty small so i had her for like 2 weeks in a large cage i had with a rooster i had exchanged so he didnt mate with her but before i let them loose i had moved a tree from a hurricane a year ago and she went down there and layed three eggs at once is that possible? Also can a chickem hold an egg then lay it? Another question as well does a rooster have preferences with hens cuz he will only mate with my orange hens and nor with my barred ones why is this?

She may have been holding eggs due to fear. Yes, Roosters have hen preferences.

I am also curious about the answer to your last question. I don't know if this is normal or not but my rooster also seems to prefer to mate certain hens.

My Orpington rooster prefers my silky hens to my Orpington hens. He is so funny!

A hen can hold a egg for a bit. Let’s say to wait for her turn in the “favorite” egg box. Or until they get back to the run. I’m thinking that she found a spot where there were eggs already... a favorite spot by the tree.
Roosters will have favorite hens usually they are more tolerant of his advances especially if he’s a young Cockerel.
