Ok so im hatching six grey Japanese x golden Hamburg eggs and its day 14 today. My incubator turns the eggs throughout the day right now. And I know on a certain day you need to stop turning them. All I need to do to get my incubator to stop turning them is put it on a different rack inside the incubator. My question is what day does it need to stop turning the eggs? Is it day 17 or day 18? I have heard both. this is my first time incubating eggs so im still learning. Or does it even matter whether its day 17 or 18?

It does not matter a whole lot. What does matter is that your air cell size be appropriate to the age of the embryo. Please read "Hatching Eggs 101" in the learning center. Humidity is used to manage air cell size. And air cell size determines whether you will have chicks that hatch successfully, or drown in the shell b/c the air cell is too small. Wishing you the best.

Ok thanks so much! These eggs were a gift and so was the incubator. I was up in Texas with the person who gave these to me and she was hatching the exact same eggs in the same incubator while I was up there and they all hatched so that gives me hope.
Why did she give the eggs and incubator free to you?
